Volvo Group said the gear set within the power steering assembly may have been installed incorrectly, resulting in a loss of steering control.

“A loss of steering control could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the recall notice said.

The affected models are the T360 and T360A, in the year range 2018-2023.

The recall notice said the defect may cause a delay in charging the front brake circuit, which could result in a loss of braking performance of the front brakes.

Rear axle and trailer braking are not impacted by this issue.

Affected units are not compliant with Australian Design Rule 35/06 – Commercial Vehicle Brake Systems, and “must be rectified to ensure a fully functional and safe braking system”, the notice said.

Owners of affected vehicles should immediately contact their nearest Kenworth dealership to have the work carried out, free of charge.
