Steve Reid had just ended his working day when Faye Lougher caught up with him in Whakatane.
Driving a 2008 Western Star 4964 FX with an 18-speed Roadranger, Steve said his work for Wilson Bros Earthmovers Ltd of Opotiki was mostly forestry construction.
“Road construction mainly, based out of Swaps quarry in Awakeri and working in the Tarawera Forest.” Steve has been driving for about 40-odd years and has been with Wilson Bros for 19 years. He says he enjoys being out and about as a driver.
“No two things are the same and you get out in the wider country. The only downside is the loonies on the road who haven‘t learned about trucks. Dickheads on the road get more and more publicity but people still don‘t learn.” Bandying around a few vexing questions saw Steve go for rugby over soccer and fresh fish over shellfish.
