Safety comes first in new Volvo Trucks campaign
Volvo Trucks Australia has launched a new campaign and education programme aimed at improving safety for young people around trucks.
A major part of the Volvo Trucks‘ See And Be Seen programme is safety training aimed at making unprotected road users, especially cyclists, aware of two important facts:
- 90 percent of all traffic accidents involve human factors, such as lack of attention and misjudgment
- Truck drivers have limited visibility close to the cab, and to prevent accidents between heavy vehicles and cyclists, we need to make sure that cyclists see and are seen.
Volvo Group Australia vice president of marketing and communications, Teresia Fors, said the new programme supports existing initiatives that Volvo Trucks has already launched, such as the Stop Look Wave programme aimed at 5 to 12 year-olds.

“However accidents involving unprotected road users – such as cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists – are on the increase. Safety is one of Volvo‘s core values. It is part of our clear vision to develop products and systems that prevent accidents from
The See And Be Seen training includes a 45-minute classroom training session, which covers how and why accidents happen between heavy vehicles and unprotected road users, along with tools to test awareness of safety risks and consequences.
