NRC calls for freight representation on new Auckland transport committee
National Road Carriers Association is calling for formal representation of the road freight sector on the new Auckland Regional Transport Committee, announced by Transport Minister and Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown earlier this week https://www.nztrucking.co.nz/govt-unveils-significant-reforms-to-auckland-transport/
AT will be substantially reformed with a statutory ARTC formed to develop a 30-year Integrated Transport Plan for Auckland agreed by Cabinet and Auckland Council.
“NRC is pleased to see action to answer the frustrations many have with Auckland Transport (AT),” said NRC general manager policy & advocacy James Smith.
“We look forward to engaging constructively to ensure the freight sector can efficiently support the economic growth of Auckland.”
The reforms include transferring transport policy and planning functions from AT back to Auckland Council, establishing the ARTC to develop long-term transport plans, and granting local boards more say on community transport issues.
