Keeping up with the times

Eleven down, none to go. Welcome to the bumper December 2024/January 2025 issue.

It’s hard to believe that 12 months have passed since I wrote the 2023 farewell editorial, while at the same time, it feels so far in the past. It’s been a mixed bag of a year for the team at New Zealand Trucking Media.

We’ve had to make some tough decisions and say goodbye to some of our business units – an unfortunate but ultimately necessary reality many businesses have grappled with in recent years.

However, at the same time, other products are holding their heads high. The magazine is never short of a good story, and I feel we’ve had a great mix on offer this year. I don’t think I’d be spilling any secrets if I said there’s a whole lot more to come. With tireless effort this year, Dave McCoid and Murray Lindsay have grown the Keep on Moving podcast into a regular series of shows that make for some outstanding listening. If you haven’t started listening yet, what better time to seek it out on your favourite podcast platform than now?

One may be a traditional media form and the other contemporary, but they complement each other so well. We feel the mix of the magazine and the podcast have allowed us to successfully carry out our mission to tell road transport’s story better than anyone else.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who’s been involved in making each issue of New Zealand Trucking magazine in 2024. Those industry personalities who graciously allowed us to tell their stories; the owners and drivers of the trucks that graced the covers, posters and pages; and the contributors and columnists who so passionately give their time to supply content while they have other priorities – thank you all.

To the advertisers who see the value in our publication and support us in any way you can, your messages are as important as the written content, and we hope we’ve been able to help you get it out successfully. Thanks for your support, and we look forward to continuing the fantastic relationships we have in the new year.

To the New Zealand Trucking Media family behind the scenes, working tirelessly to move the company forward and bring each issue to life – each of you is worth your weight in gold. Thanks, team, another job well done.

And, of course, to save the best for last – there would be no magazine without our readers and subscribers who choose to buy each issue month after month. Whether this is the first issue you’ve purchased and read or you’ve been with us from day one, thank you for choosing us to bring you the best content we can from New Zealand’s trucking industry and beyond. We hope we’ve made good on our mission promise and that you’ve enjoyed the words you’ve read and the images you’ve poured over.

Have a good break, enjoy the precious time with friends and family, have fun and be safe.

Roll on, 2025!
