Johnny Miller

In Just Truckn Around, Jan/Feb 20172 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineFebruary 7, 2017

Living on a country road, Faye Lougher sees milk tankers go past almost every day but she‘s never managed to stop one for a JTA – until now!

Johnny Miller was on his normal route around Koputaroa, north of Levin, and his truck was nice and shiny so the stars were all aligned at last.

He can‘t remember exactly how many, but Johnny says he‘s been driving trucks for a few years now.

“My old man used to have trucks and I‘ve been around them all my life,” he said.

Johnny drives a 2014 Volvo FM 500 for Fonterra and had one more stop that morning before heading back to his base at Longburn.

What he likes best about being a truck driver is the freedom of being out on the highway instead of being stuck in an office.

Like another driver we featured recently, Johnny says the one thing he doesn‘t like about the industry is that these days very few truckies wave back when you wave out.

“And that truckies these days will watch another guy struggle doing something the wrong way and tell all the other truckies how that guy should do it, but they won‘t go over and help the guy!”

Johnny‘s vexing question was leather or lace. “Lace.”
