Waka Kotahi has this week given the all-clear for heavy vehicles to use SH60 slip site at Birds Hill in Tākaka.

A comprehensive test of the site’s suitability for heavy vehicles was successfully carried out earlier this week. It means truck and trailer units can go through the road works site when it is open to traffic. There is a speed restriction of 30kph, with single-lane access in place.

The current schedule of closures remains in place while work to fix the road continues. The road is only open to traffic at the following times daily: 8am-9am, 12pm-1pm, 3-4pm, and 6pm-7am.

Waka Kotahi said there is no exact timeframe for how long this work will take to complete.
