Fuso New Zealand‘s commitment to safety and sustainability saw the company promoted as a finalist in two categories at the 2019 Australasian Fleet Safety Awards – Fleet Safety Products and Sustainable Journeys.

Caroline Perry, managing director of the awards sponsor Brake NZ, said Fuso NZ had demonstrated strength delivering effective safety solutions for drivers.

“Fuso NZ is doing great work in prioritising driver safety,” she said. “In selecting our finalists, we look at how far-reaching a company‘s efforts are in the field of safety and sustainability, as well as looking for proven results.

“What Fuso NZ has done and what it has in store with future releases is very exciting,” she said.

To be considered for the Fleet Safety Product Award, a company must have proven demonstrable results from initiatives to improve fleet safety through innovation. The Sustainable Journeys Award looked at who has done the most in reducing risk and fuel emissions by introducing sustainable travel.

The release of the new Fuso Shogun and Canter truck ranges this year introduced class-leading levels of safety and efficiency.

The new Shogun hit New Zealand roads as the most advanced Japanese truck ever, equipped with Active Emergency Braking System, Lane Departure Warning System, Electronic Stability Control and Reverse Camera and Touchscreen Media Unit, Active Attention Assist, Proximity Control Assist, Directional Control and Roll-over Protection in its Electronic Stability Control.

The Shogun‘s Euro 6 OM470 10.7L diesel is the cleanest, most efficient powerplant ever seen in a Fuso. This, in conjunction with the new ShiftPilot automated manual transmission, produces one of the country‘s most economical heavy vehicles.

The Canter boasts many of the same safety features as the Shogun, such as Active Emergency Braking System, Lane Departure Warning System, Electronic Stability Control and Reverse Camera and the Touchscreen Media Unit, earning its title as New Zealand‘s safest light truck.

Its class-leading DUONIC 2.0 automated manual transmission also delivers on highly efficient, car-like driving and lower running costs.
