Evolution to Revolution at IRTENZ Conference 2022
The IRTENZ Conference is less than a week away, bringing together key industry stakeholders and operators from the transport sector.
Taking place at the Jet Park Hotel at Hamilton Airport, the conference runs over two days on 16 and 17 November 2022.
Now in its 17th year, this year’s conference covers the key theme of Evolution to Revolution: Keeping ahead of the decarbonisation challenge. Key issues to be discussed include alternative power trains, hydrogen, electric and biofuel technology, commercial vehicle technology, and pavement and productivity impacts.
“Road transport is about to undergo the biggest revolution it has had for more than 100 years,” said IRTENZ president Chris Carr. “Our traditional fuel sources will all be replaced in less than 20 years, and no amount of resistance will stem the tide.
“IRTENZ will be presenting the views of manufacturers and government agencies as we start on this journey,” Carr said. “We owe it to New Zealand to be fully informed and prepared for a very different future.”
Key industry providers and operators will share their views and experience on how infrastructure frameworks are keeping up with facilitating these initiatives. You can view the full programme here.
Day 1 will feature a welcoming presentation from IRTENZ president Chris Carr, with a keynote from Romesh Rodrigo from Daimler Truck Australia Pacific.
Other speakers include executives from Southpac Trucks, Fuso New Zealand, Scania New Zealand, TR Group, KahuEV, and Hyundai Truck & Bus, with a panel session covering energy sources and infrastructure with speakers from Hiringa, Transpower and E Trucks.
Day Two’s panel session will cover legislation and compliance, with speakers from NZTA, Independent Training Audit Services, VTNZ, Transport and Mechanical Consulting, and MTA.
The afternoon will see a panel with speakers from Waste Management, HW Richardson, Fonterra, and Carr & Haslam.
New Zealand Trucking magazine will present a full report on the conference in forthcoming issues.
