Taking kids for rides is what Dunedin’s Special Rigs for Special Kids is all about – and the 2024 event was as popular as ever.

From wicked Western Stars to gleaming John Deeres and even polished Pontiacs, they all arrived en masse to support the 15th annual Hug A Rig day held at the Southern Field Days’ site near Waimumu. The sense of community spirit and resulting smiles on the recipients’ faces said it all.

The annual Gore Truck Show was held on the Saturday of King’s Birthday weekend as a part of the Tussock Country Gore Gold Guitars country music festival. Thousands of visitors flocked to the Eastern Southland town, lining the main street to watch the parade. Earlier, attendees enjoyed a public static display where the entrants were judged for a lengthy line-up of awards.

Last held in 2021, the Taranaki Truck Show returned over Easter Weekend 2024. The biggest event yet, it had clearly been missed.

Fine weather, fine trucks, and fine beer – it can only be the Tui truck show!

The Wellington Truck and Transport Show made a triumphant return at the end of February, after a four year hiatus.
