Faye Lougher had just stopped in Shannon when Dean Miller pulled in to grab some lunch.
Driving a 2004 Freightliner Argosy for PTS Logistics Ltd, he had some heavy-duty agricultural machinery on the back.
Dean says no one else in his family drove trucks but it was something he‘d always wanted to do. He began driving when he was 18, some 31 years ago, and says he worked for PTS back in the days when they only had four trucks on the road.
Dean and his wife owned Millers Machinery Movers in Feilding from 2002 until PTS bought them out in 2015. Dean stayed on and now works on the agricultural side of the business, moving equipment around the country.
He says he likes the different places he gets to see – that day he‘d driven from Palmerston North to Wellington and was destined for Gisborne.
The main problem Dean sees in the industry today is there is too much bureaucracy.
His vexing question was which superpower would he choose and he picked mind reading!
