Booth‘s Transport buys Couplands Transport and Trans NZ

In 2019 Booth‘s Transport expanded into the Hawke‘s Bay with its purchase of Tomoana Warehousing Ltd in Hastings, and now with the recent acquisition of Couplands Transport (1929) Ltd and Trans NZ (1997) Ltd, the company will extent its services in the Waikato and Auckland regions too.

Booth‘s Transport Ltd executive director, Trevor Booth, explains: “Both companies are family owned and operated and have similar service offerings, company culture, staff values and IT platforms. We hope these similarities will help make the ownership transition smoother for everyone – from staff through to customers and suppliers.

Regarding the sale, former co-owner of Couplands Transport and Trans NZ David Coupland says: “My wife Rosalie and I have been contemplating our retirement of late and feel now is the right time, so have made the difficult decision to sell our businesses. We have built a strong working partnership with Booth‘s Transport over the years, and in recent months we began conversations around how to align the two.”

Under this new ownership model, Trevor believes “all stakeholders will benefit hugely from increased resources, access to a broader network geographically and a wider range of service offerings”. David and Rosalie will also continue to work alongside the Booth‘s Transport team during the hand-over period.

“Rosalie and I are thrilled that our family involvement and legacy (est. 1929) will continue with our daughter Amanda staying on as the Te Awamutu branch manager,” says David.

Regarding the Coupland‘s retirement, Trevor adds: “On behalf of the Booth‘s Transport team, we would like to acknowledge and thank David and Rosalie for their commitment, dedication, and service to the logistics industry, Te Awamutu and the wider Waikato and Auckland community. From all of us, we wish them all the best in their retirement and trust they will enjoy some well-earnt down time.”
