2016 Gore Truck Show

When you organise a truck show all you can ask for are plenty of entrants, decent weather and the crowds to show up – all of which happened for the organisers of the 2016 Gore Truck Show at Queen‘s Birthday weekend.

The show was given somewhat of an upgrade this year by moving to the new Transport Repairs facility on Faulkner Road, which had more space for the trucks and public. It also allowed the local fire service to put on demonstrations.

Although judging kicked off at the usual time of 8.00am, entrants were still rolling in most of the morning, keeping the organisers busy until the parade began down the main street of Gore at 2.00pm. Last year‘s ‘King Rig‘ winner, the UD tractor unit owned by Gore Freight Services, led the parade past the eager crowd. The parade ended at Traffers hotel car park where the prizegiving commenced at 4.00pm.

This year‘s ‘King Rig‘ was awarded to Lindsay Stuck from Freight Haulage with his sharp FM Volvo tractor unit. There were also a host of other prizes but it was great to see two young drivers of the future, 18-year-old Mason Murphy (representing Andrews Transport) and 19-year-old Bradley Curtis (representing HRT), who took away trophies for their hard work preparing their companies‘ trucks for the show.

These young men are at present attending the Commercial Road Transport course through the HWR Richardson Group at the Southern Institute of Technology.
