RIGS OF 2006 – March DAF FTTXF95 – CUE204 (now EED47)

In DAF1 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineJune 15, 2016

The March edition featured a new DAF XF95 bought to New Zealand by Southpac for the 2005 Truck Expo at Mystery Creek.

It was the top-of-the-line DAF model featuring a Super Space Cab.

Aaron Transport managing director Clyde McLeod was prepared to pay an extra $13,000 and accommodate the extra 200kg added to the tare. He wanted a truck immediately, and this was for sale off the floor.

The specs included a 12.6-litre DAF six-cylinder Euro 3 engine, a ZF AMT gearbox, Meritor 46 series diffs, and PACCAR Airglide 200A air suspension. It pulled a 5-axle Total Transport curtainside B-train hauling snack foods or new pallets.

The tractor ran until 2011 when it was sold through a dealer to G B Small Transport, having covered around 900,000 kilometres. It currently sits on 1.15 million kilometres and has had a new gearbox. It has had a cracked head that was replaced in-frame, as were the injectors about 12 months ago.

Owner Guy Small has increased the original tyre size to 11R 22.5 and although this move has increased the gearing, the difference has not affected the performance at all.
