RIGS OF 2006 – September Freightliner Argosy – DAB510

In Freightliner, News1 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineJuly 28, 2016

The truck test in the September issue of New Zealand Trucking magazine featured a Freightliner Argosy set up with Jackson crates to haul livestock throughout the North Island.

Gary Leonard purchased the combination, contracting to Gordon Transport Ltd in Taupo. He crossed the Napier-Taupo Road regularly, and was often seen as far north as Moerewa in the Bay of Islands.

THEN

The Freightliner was fitted out with a Cummins Signature 15-litre 620hp engine, an 18-speed Eaton RTLO AMT gearbox, Meritor RT-46 series diffs, and Freightliner 46,000lb airbag suspension. Tony Hill Signs in Tauranga gave the combination an individual appearance.
The 8×4 and 4-axle trailer had run for seven years when it was sold to Central Transport Ltd in Reporoa.

The Freightliner was given a complete makeover and went back on the road in the distinctive CTL blue, silver and grey colours. It has now covered 1.6 million kilometres with no major problems.
