Hall of fame – Stan Williamson

1 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineSeptember 26, 2016

In 1946 Stan Williamson started a lifelong association with bulldozers at the Te Puke Flax Milling Co. Stints with Tauranga County Council and land development with Roydon Downs followed before moving to Putaruru with Matt Alexander.

In 1953 Maketu Contractors Ltd was formed. When the business broke up, Stan kept a couple of dozers, and took on the logging sector, forming his own business.

Further expansion opportunities came with the purchase of Oregon Hauling Ltd, Forest Freighters Ltd, and later Rutherfurd‘s Transport.

He later joined with others in forming Corporate Transport Ltd, and when that group wound up continued with Oregon Hauling Co before selling to Rotorua Forest Haulage Ltd.

In 1983 he was made a Life Member of No. 2 Central Executive, a Life Member of RTA Region 2 in 1983, and a Life Member of the NZRTA in 1993.
