Hall of fame – Don Wright

1 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineSeptember 26, 2016

Don Wright started his working life as an apprentice mechanic at International Harvester Co. in Auckland at the age of 15.

He later became a Kenworth dealer for Dalhoff and King, then in 1971 he began selling Komatsu machines and Nissan trucks in Auckland.

Don always wanted to own his own truck and bought a Commer TS3, but later sold that and contracted his skills to NZ Steel.

He went on to become the biggest Scania dealer of the day, and that was the beginning of Trucks & Trailers Ltd. In 1991 they also became Mercedes Benz dealers.

Don is still director of Trucks and Trailers Ltd and Heavy Trucks Ltd, allowing him to keep up to date with all transport matters, and as he says, ‘the great people involved‘.
