Locals came together and lined Main Street in Gore last weekend for the annual truck parade as part of the McDonough Contracting Gore Truck Show.
The show has been held for more than 40 years and brings local farmers, labourers and contractors together to show off their trucks.
From concrete mixers to cattle transporters, tow trucks and fire engines, more than 100 trucks of all shapes and sizes paraded up and down Gore’s main strip following the market day that saw a yard full of colouring competitions, sausage sizzles, truck toys and Little Trucker Down Under merchandise.
Committee member and event organiser Rhonda Wilson said the standard of trucks was high this year with a good mix of older and newer trucks, with people travelling from near and far for the show.
Trucks were parked up at Gore’s Transport Repairs yard for judging in the morning before the convoy in the afternoon.
At the award show Saturday evening, trucks were judged on their cleanliness as well as their condition and prizes were awarded in more than 40 different classes.
The coveted King Rig Trophy was won by Daryl Shand, of Freight Haulage with a Volvo – the second year in a row the company had won the competition.
Best Female Truck Driver went to Amanda Baldwin.
The People’s Choice Award was won by Bergie of Martinborough Transport with a Scania stock truck.
