A warning against errant parking

In News1 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineMay 3, 2021

The Kaikoura District Council has recently seen a big increase in the number of trucks parking on the footpaths on Beach Road and Hawthorne Roads in Kaikoura – and offending vehicles can expect to receive infringement notices in the post.

According to the council, parking on the footpaths is both hazardous to pedestrians and also damages the gutters and footpaths. But more concerning are the truck drivers who park across the Ambulance Bay entrance and then leave the area.

“Finding drivers and getting them to move their vehicles can be easier said than done,” says Janet McRobie, regulatory compliance officer, Kaikoura District Council.

“The time taken could be the difference between life and death,” McRobie adds.
