After the initial postponement, the trucks turned out in force to support one of the best truck shows in the country.

Organiser Rick Harkness was one stressed out man back in September, having to postpone his show due to the weather. Moving the show to 4 November suited most of the original entrants and it also allowed others to bring trucks along who may not have been able to earlier.

Rick and his team had listened to a few suggestions made the year before and parked the 126 trucks entered facing north, allowing the sun to be on them most of the day and making for some great photographs.

What was most noticeable about this show was the strong showing of restored classic trucks, probably the most we have seen at a truck show of this type.

The Andy Harkness Memorial trophy was won by Ryan Pullar, who entered a beautifully restored Thames Trader. Protranz made the journey south from Christchurch en masse and took out the Best Fleet trophy with a very impressive line up. The People‘s Choice award was handed out to Ross and Wendy Higgins from Rossco Bobcats with their immaculate Hino.

The show, along with the charity auction and evening entertainment that followed, raised over $12,000 for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand.

The show now takes a break, but will be back in 2019, giving Rick plenty of time to reflect and plan the next show.
