He was proud of the fact it had recently clicked over a million kilometres and was still going strong. Paul works for Bill Hammond Transport Ltd, transporting imported palm kernel between Wellington, Hawke‘s Bay and New Plymouth. His next stop was Palmerston North. Paul‘s father was a truck driver and he says that was what inspired him to join the industry. Now 49, he‘s been driving since he was 18.
He says he loves being his own boss. “Really, you‘re in charge of it, that‘s what I love.”
The main problem facing the industry in his opinion is the poor quality of our roads. Paul‘s pick of vexing questions was choosing his favourite song.
“Oh, now I‘ll have to think what it is,” he said. “Queen – We Will Rock You.”
