Lawrence Latoa

In Just Truckn Around, Jan/Feb 20172 MinutesBy NZ Trucking magazineFebruary 21, 2017

Roving reporter Faye Lougher had an ulterior motive when she let Lawrence Latoa‘s truck pull in front of her into a line of vehicles on SH1 in Levin – to grab him for a Just Truckin‘ Around profile! Lucky for her his next stop was just around the corner at Resene, which is where she snapped him after he made his delivery.

Driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Fuso Shogun for Toll New Zealand, Lawrence does a regular general freight run between Otaki and Palmerston North.

Unlike many truckies, he didn‘t follow a family member into the industry.

“I got into it by accident really. I was a storeman then became a courier driver and then I moved into truck driving. I‘ve been doing it for more than 10 years now.”

Lawrence says he loves being out and about and meeting the public in the course of his work.

He says the only downside is people‘s expectations of what can be done in a limited time.

Lawrence‘s vexing question was good old number 10 – beef, pork, lamb or chicken? He chose lamb.
