Prestige unites with International

A labour shortage in Auckland that resulted in Intertruck having difficulties filling vacancies for qualified technician positions in their Auckland branch has led to them appointing a new sales, parts and service dealer in the city.

“Although non-qualified mechanics are available, these applicants do not meet our company‘s standards,” says Intertruck managing director Comer Board. “It is imperative such standards are never compromised: that would affect vehicle repairs and vehicle safety.”

Board says Ricky Simonsen, the owner of Prestige International Ltd, provided the solution. Soon to exit from a service agreement with another franchise, Simonsen approached Intertruck to be a sales, service and parts dealer for the International brand.

“Having achieved our standards, Prestige is now an authorised dealer for Intertruck, covering the greater Auckland region. Our service, parts and admin staff from our Auckland branch will integrate into Prestige‘s business. This ensures that we can continue the high level of performance our customers expect.”

Board says fortunately, Prestige is immune to the labour crisis because of a simple formula.

“Ricky, is a hands-on owner/service dealer who has gained tremendous respect from his employees and customers alike, resulting in his retaining long-term staff. Prestige will employ more than 30 staff after integrating our team, with an impressive 22 skilled technicians/mechanics, two in-house auto electricians and three parts staff, along with having light engineering capability, all in one location.”

Hugh Green will remain as Intertruck‘s longstanding national sales manager and will move from his current location to Prestige International.

“Hugh will concentrate on further developing our sales and marketing profile and continue his incredible passion for selling the International brand for Intertruck on a national basis,” says Board.

“Our customers are tremendously loyal and have supported our branch. Although not affecting our other branches, this move has presented us with an opportunity to grow our brand, leading to a new era in parts and service in Auckland, starting from 1 February.”
