Dave Barnes
David Barnes was on his way back to his Taupo base when roving reporter Faye Lougher caught up with him in Foxton.
Driving a 2003 Kenworth K104 truck and trailer powered by a Cummins 620 Signature for Barnes Transport, he does a run between Auckland and Levin, carrying ‘anything and everything‘.
David has been driving trucks for 19 years and says it‘s in his blood as his father was also a truck driver.
The benefit of being on the road early in the mornings means that David gets to see some awesome sunrises. He says the things he loves the most about being a truck driver are nice days and good scenery.
The things that bug him are rate cutters in the industry and the increasing traffic on the roads.
His pick of vexing question was rugby or soccer and there was no hesitation – “rugby!”
