Mercedes-Benz 4×4 Revolutionising the Groundspread Industry
It‘s a familiar site seeing a Wealleans Groundspread 4×4 Mercedes-Benz Atego or Axor rolling over the hills of the Waikato or Bay of Plenty countryside.
The introduction of the modern high horse power 4×4 Mercedes-Benz models has revolutionised the Wealleans business and Groundspread industry according to Shane Wealleans, Managing Director.
“The Mercedes-Benz 4×4 models have provided us with on road efficiency while maintaining off road capability. The Atego and Axor models give us the versatility to extend our groundspread season through winter and into the early spring,” says Shane.
“A challenge in our industry has always been finding the right balance between horse power and weight,” he says.
The Wealleans family started spreading fertilizer from their Hinuera Base in 1946. Shane is the third generation of Wealleans to head the company following on from his father and grandfather. Over the years Wealleans have stayed true to their core, servicing the fertilizer application requirements of their customers.
Today Wealleans Groundspread runs a fleet of more than 80 vehicles across seven branch entities. Over half of their fleet is Mercedes-Benz Atego and Axor models. Shane will add another three Mercedes- Benz new dimension Arocs to his fleet at the end of the year.
“Mercedes-Benz Trucks have served us well since the introduction of the first 1113 models in the early 70‘s. We know it‘s a truck we can trust, it‘s robust, reliable, and efficient”, says Shane.
“We have a long standing relationship with the team at Trucks & Trailers, who know our requirements and go out of their way to meet our needs.”
