Welcome back to New Zealand Trucking Media’s weekly EDM!
We hope you had a restful, enjoyable holiday and are bounding into 2025 with energy and determination. We certainly are! We’re back, rested and raring to go.
For many in the industry, and indeed across most other economic sectors, 2024 was defined by the mantra ‘survive to 25’. Well, 2025 is here and, sadly, we’re told to expect a bit more of the same for the first half of the year. Taking a glass-half-full view, considering we’ve been doing it tough and come this far – we can surely survive through 25 to take full advantage of things once the environment starts easing.
The eternal optimist, I know – but why let something out of your control bring you down?
What we can control at New Zealand Trucking Media is the content we bring you each day, week and month of the year on our various digital platforms or in the monthly issue of New Zealand Trucking magazine. We already have an incredible amount of exceptional content set for you this year, and we’re excited to present it to you.
The February edition of the magazine is nearing its print deadline and will hit the shelves on the third of the month, while the March issue will be a special celebration of an incredible milestone – the magazine’s 40th anniversary!
As we went to print with the final issue of 2024, we received our audited Nielsen Annual Readership Report, and we were excited to see that each issue for the period October 2023 to September 2024 was read by an incredible 81,000 readers! We were even more excited to see this number had greatly increased compared with the same period over the preceding two years. Thank you so much to everyone who chooses New Zealand Trucking.
That said, we are aware that some readers have been struggling to find the magazine for sale in certain locations, and we’re working with our distributor to overcome this. We strongly recommend a yearly subscription to the magazine to ensure you never miss an issue – and you will also score one copy free!
Unfortunately, we’ve not been immune to inflationary pressures and need to raise the cover price of the magazine from the February issue. Subscribing before 1 February will ensure you get your 2025 magazines at current prices, so head to https://www.nztrucking.co.nz/shop/ to do so.
For those wanting their trucking content on the go, the Keep on Moving podcast will continue to grow in 2025. It went from strength to strength in 2024, and we ended the year with a real doozey! Dave McCoid sat down with CEO of Southpac Trucks, Maarten Durent, for what he describes as “an unmissable interview – possibly the ultimate ‘Get shit done!’ motivational business talk you’ll ever hear.” If you haven’t heard it yet, do yourself a favour and click here to listen.
Finally, we’ll be increasing our presence at truck shows around the country this year, so look out for us and feel free to say hi!
Take care out there,
Gavin Myers
