Refrigafreighters opens new facility at Ruakura Superhub
Refrigafreighters has opened its first purpose-built depot at the Ruakura Superhub, Hamilton.
The facility enhances Refrigafreighters’ ability to deliver fresh and frozen goods efficiently, combining advanced technology with a focus on sustainability.
Staff, partners, suppliers, and local Iwi representatives gathered for the opening ceremony last week, which began with a moving Karakia, followed by speeches and a morning tea.
“This facility reflects our team’s dedication and passion,” said Michael Roberts, CEO of Refrigafreighters.
“It strengthens our presence in Hamilton’s growing hub, and supports our continued service across New Zealand.”
Refrigafreighters has more than 190 chiller/freezer trucks and trailers in its fleet, and operating 24/7 nationwide.
The new 1000 square metre facility has been developed by Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) and includes fridge and freezer space and accompanying office space.
The building is specified to a Greenstar 4 rating with design carried out by main contractor Calder Stewart Construction.
The facility includes four truck docks and extra parking on a 5000 square metre lot, providing plenty of growing room for its starting fleet of seven new delivery trucks.
All trucks based there will serve the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions, with further operational support from the existing Refrigafreighters network.
