With 80 confirmed exhibitors and hundreds of registered attendees, organisers are expecting big crowds at this year’s EROAD Fleet Day, taking place on Wednesday 7 August.

Enterprise business development manager at EROAD Matt Buckle said the event is moving to Mystery Creek, Hamilton, due to its significant growth.

“We’ve seen between 30% and 40% attendee growth every year for the last four years, which is great,” he said.

This year’s event is themed around efficiency, safety and sustainability, with technology being an underlying enabler.

There are more than 15 speakers from across the industry, with Sir John Key confirmed as the keynote speaker. There will be two panel sessions, a networking area and interactive demonstrations, and heavy and light stations.

A highlight of the event will be a crash demonstration, where two cars are dropped from a 200-tonne crane.

“We want to show what an accident looks like at 80km/h, and also 120km/h, to highlight how important it is to not speed,” says Buckle.

“We want people to walk away from Fleet Day going, I’ve learned a lot today from some good speakers, but I’ve also seen a lot in terms of exhibitors,” he says.

Buckle says attendees can expect to see all the major vehicle brands.

“BYD is bringing its new ute out, and there’s a good range of heavy transport suppliers attending – Sime Darby, Scania, Volvo, Penske … so there’s a good range of heavy vehicles that are going to be present,” he says.

Emergency services are also going to be attending with a new electric ambulance, as well as a range of new police cars.
