Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation has unveiled a new model of the Super Great truck.
The new Super Great is expected to go on sale in the Japanese market this year.
The new Super Great, now fully remodeled six years after its last major redesign in 2017, focuses on delivering improved economy, safety, and comfort. The latest model is equipped with the 6R30 high-performance 12.8L engine, and the cab has been redesigned to improve aerodynamics. Tres with low rolling resistance have also been adopted to meet Japan’s FY2025 Fuel Efficiency Standards.
The new 6R30 engine improves thermal efficiency by increasing combustion pressure through increased compression ratio and turbo modification. Two turbochargers are configured to match the engine’s power output, resulting in an increase in torque, particularly at lower speeds. Optimisations have been made to better accommodate earlier shifting at lower speeds. For drivers who prefer the AMT Shift Pilot, gearshift timing has also been adjusted to match the increase in low-speed torque.
The latest Super Great also features an upgraded cab design that centers on the FUSO Black Belt motif. The FUSO Black Belt, which is integrated into other products within the lineup such as the light-duty Canter and the heavy-duty Aero Queen coach bus. The truck comes with the latest in advanced safety technology, equipped with Active Brake Assist 6, the updated frontal collision mitigation system. Active Side Guard Assist 2.0, which detects hazards on both sides of the vehicle for turns and lane-changes, is also part of the standard product offering.
