Motueka and Tasman Bay drivers who use the Motueka River Bridge, SH60, between Motueka and Riwaka, after 9pm at night will face a detour route from this Sunday night, 21 June. (Please note, this date is a week later than originally notified, due to the weather forecasts. Please check the link below to be sure this work starts this weekend).

“From Sunday to Wednesday, 21 to 24 June, after 9pm at night to 5am the following morning, NZ Transport Agency road crews will be doing annual safety maintenance on the bridge joints,” says NZTA top of the south system manager Andrew James.

Drivers will be detoured to the Motueka Valley highway, Alexander Bluff Road, Motueka River West Bank Road, Old Mill Road, Swamp Road and Umukuri Road (reverse for southbound traffic).

“If there is an emergency, those services will be able to get over the bridge,” says James.
