McCurdy Trucks merges two dealerships into one

McCurdy Trucks has merged its Devon Road and Catalina Place sites in New Plymouth into one purpose-built truck and trailer repair facility in Bell Block.

The new 10-bay service workshop has reduced repair times, and the 3T gantry crane and large yard have made jobs easier, faster and safer. With three service lanes set up, the flow over the two pits and lifter has improved booking wait times so customers can plan their downtime better.

McCurdy Trucks‘ new 8-bay engineering and fabrication workshop has resulted in additional transport engineers being employed to cope with the increase in R&M work, refurbishments and new deck and tipper builds. To handle the increase in new deck and bodybuilding, an engineering project manager‘s role has been created.

Like the service shop, the engineering team has a 7T gantry crane and a platform lifter for underbody rust and exhaust repairs. Two electric vehicle chargers have also been installed to service their electric truck customers.

There are three service advisors based in the showroom walk-in area, and an electronic booking diary has been established to ensure the workshop is booked to capacity based on the man-hours available each day.

The parts team now has a large warehouse that houses an increased range of parts to feed the workshops and the region‘s fleet workshops and outside customers.

There is a separate training room set up with computers so staff can concentrate on any online or pre-practical training, and McCurdy Trucks also has its own in-house training coordinator.

Access to the custom-built site is easy and yard room and parking is ample for any size units.

McCurdy Trucks motto is ‘Trusted commercial vehicle professionals keeping our customers on the road‘, and with the new facility this task has become a whole lot easier.
