International – The Expo

Intertruck Distributors had a large outdoor stand promoting their New Zealand-built 9870 range. Although the model has been out for more than a year, it was the first time it had been at a major show, and the line-up of day cab, flat roof 90” sleeper and Sky Roof sleeper models in various operators‘ colours made an impressive sight.

Intertruck used the show to officially launch the New Zealand spec International ProStar, and the first two to come out of their Mount Maunganui assembly plant, a 6×4 tractor and an 8×4 tipper spec, were on display. The new model is powered by a Cummins X15 engine and available with Eaton UltraShift or manual 18-speed gearboxes. Intertruck sales manager Hugh Green says the ProStar is a genuine New Zealand specced model that is different from the Australian and US units and will continue to be built here.

The LoneStar was also on display. Green says the US-built truck will continue to be available here, but will only be brought in to order.
