After sitting in the number two spot in the 4501kg to MAX GVM registration results for the past few months, in January Fuso moved into first equal position with Isuzu, both companies selling a total of 66 vehicles.

Fuso sold 55 trucks and 11 buses, while Isuzu sold 49 trucks and 17 buses. Fuso nabbed 16.2% market share for trucks (Isuzu 14.4%) and 16.4% for buses (Isuzu was higher on 25.4%). Isuzu is still ahead on the combined year to date total with 73 vehicles to Fuso‘s 67. The total market is up 8.2% on the previous year.

Fuso New Zealand managing director Kurtis Andrews says they are happy with the result, although feel they left a bit on the table.

“While January is always a challenging sales month, 66 units was a bit below our target; that said, we’re starting to feel the momentum off the back of a strong 2017 result and will look to continue building on that.

“With our new Enduro range launching in March, additions to our network and some other exciting announcements to come later in the year, we’re looking forward to another busy year – so it’s a positive start.”
