First New Zealand custom-built International ProStar R8-BT hits the road

Bulk Lines managing director Peter Barker took delivery of the first New Zealand custom-built International ProStar R8-BT (Rigid 8×4 Bulk Tipper) last Monday.

The ProStar is manufactured by Intertruck Distributors (New Zealand) Limited at their Mt Maunganui plant, and custom-built to provide transport operators with a bespoke solution to meet local operating conditions and operator-specific requirements.

Peter says the ProStar with Domett trailer is a superb fit. “We love the light tare of the Internationals, and we have bought a few of them over the years. Together with Dommet‘s trailer set-up, it makes for a package that looks and feels just right for our needs.”

New Zealand Trucking magazine was at the assembly plant on Monday afternoon as the ProStar left, and it was put straight to work, with driver Clinton leaving to pick up a fertiliser load for delivery to Otorohanga.

The stunning green paintwork was done by Intertruck‘s on-site paint shop and complements the ProStar‘s distinctive, imposing look, combining to create a genuinely head-turning truck that is proudly Kiwi-made.

The locally built ProStar was developed in partnership with Navistar to provide key points of difference and functionality from Australian models in order to achieve increased productivity and other benefits in the New Zealand market.
