We‘ve decided to say ‘Good on ya mate‘ to Daryl this month after hearing he‘d won the 2017 Linehaul Contractor of the Year at the Fastway Couriers Excellence Awards held in Rotorua recently.

Like many in the industry, Daryl‘s St Arnaud-based linehaul trucking operation was thrown into turmoil after last year‘s earthquake.

“It added four hours to a return trip between Blenheim and Christchurch. One driver couldn‘t do a return trip because he would be working too long so I needed more drivers,” he said.

With more distance to travel over a six-day week, another truck and trailer unit was also required to link depots in Blenheim, Nelson and Greymouth with Christchurch.

Fastway Couriers New Zealand CEO Scott Jenyns says, “Daryl has gone above and beyond the challenges that were presented to ensure freight was delivered into Nelson and Marlborough as early as possible.

“McCrostie Trucking got the job done no matter what hurdles were thrown their way.”

Getting feedback like that on an operator proactively responding to a crisis is always great to hear.

‘Good on ya‘ Daryl.
